The team at Specsavers in Bognor Regis is showing its support for Dementia Awareness Week (15-21 May) by training up as Dementia Friends.

The initiative, organised by the Alzheimer’s Society, involves staff undertaking video and practical training exercises to learn what it is like to live with dementia. This knowledge can then be used to provide extra support to individuals suffering from the condition.
Team members at the Bognor Regis store who have already completed their training include administrator Fran Kitchener and optical assistant Magdalena Stefanowska (pictured). They have now been issued with badges to help customers easily identify them as a Dementia Friend in store.
Jonathan West, store director at Specsavers Bognor Regis, says: ‘We are constantly looking at ways to improve our service to customers, so Dementia Friends is something we fully support.
‘The training has been invaluable in improving our understanding of dementia and is helping us to provide greater care to residents.’
