Lightning McQueen hit the road on Tuesday 27 May to make a starring appearance alongside Peppa Pig and Jake (of Jake and the Neverland Pirates) at a local opticians’ family fun day, helping to raise over £150 for local charity, The Henry Allen Trust.
Kids fun day
Children were invited to the Specsavers store in Bletchley, located at 110 Queensway, to have their faces painted and their picture taken with their favourite TV stars and in the replica of the Disney Cars character Lightening McQueen.
Store staff and members of ‘Team Henry’ from the charity were also on hand to encourage donations by selling homemade cakes and giving out balloons.
The Henry Allen Trust's MK to Paris cycle
The event coincided with day two of The Henry Allen Trust’s 303 mile Stadium:MK to Paris cycle, which the store were sponsoring.
There was an outburst of celebration in store when the Team Henry cycle team got in touch to confirm they’d made it to Dover in high spirits, despite the gruelling weather.
Thank you to local residents
Amy Patmore, the event co-ordinator from Specsavers Bletchley, says: ‘This was our second fundraising event for the Henry Allen Trust and they seem to be getting bigger and better each time. The day was a really success and the characters went down a storm with all the children, especially Lightening McQueen!
‘It was fantastic to see our store team and Team Henry working so closely together. It’s a real honour to support such a worthy cause and we’re so grateful for all their hard work on the day. Thank you to all our customers and local residents who kindly donated and helped raise such a substantial amount of money.
‘We’d also like to congratulate the Team Henry cycle team on their amazing achievement!’
Thank you from The Henry Allen Trust
Emma Burrows, from The Henry Allen Trust says: 'Thank you Specsavers and your wonderful staff at Bletchley for letting us join you for your kids day. Despite the weather people still came to say hello, talked to us about the trust and helped to raise awareness.'
