The Blackwood team have raised more than £200 for a children’s charity after hosting a fitness challenge and bake sale in-store.
Specsavers on High Street hosted the fundraising event over two days, during which locals were encouraged to make a donation towards Cerebra, a Carmarthen-based charity that helps children across Wales with neurological conditions such as Down’s syndrome and cerebral palsy.
As well as providing support services for the children and their families, its Innovation Centre in Swansea designs bespoke equipment - such as wheelchairs and rocking horses – specific to a child’s needs.
The two-day challenge, which saw staff take part in a cake sale and a cycle-thon, helped raised £208.85 for the charity.
‘The cake sale went down a treat – both for customers and our staff - and the fitness fundraiser was a great way for us to all work off the cakes and other indulgences we’d eaten the day before,’ says Vincent Welsh, store director.
‘Our staff are always keen to get involved in fundraisers, especially when it is for a good cause such as Cerebra. We had a great time and, thanks to the generosity of our customers, ensured a good amount of money went to do a charity that does so much great work.’
