The Blackwood team are urging customers old and new to join them on 14 and 15 June for a bake sale and cycle challenge in aid of Cerebra – a charity supporting children with brain conditions.
The team will kick-start the two-day fundraiser with a bake sale, encouraging customers to buy homemade cakes in exchange for a small donation.
On Friday, staff will don lycra for an in-store cycle-thon, with the aim of totting up 100 miles by the end of the day.
All money raised will go towards the Camarthen-headquartered charity, which offers support services to children with conditions such as Down’s syndrome and cerebral palsy. It also creates bespoke items – such as customised surfboards and wheelchairs - at its Innovation Centre in Swansea.
Welcoming the community
Vincent Welsh, store director, says: ‘We’re looking forward to welcoming Blackwood residents to our store and are hoping to raise a large amount of money for this amazing charity.
‘Our team have proven in the past they are expert bakers so we’re optimistic that the cake sale will be a success, and Exert Fitness Centre in Abercarn is providing us with a great bike so, while I’m sure the cycling challenge won’t be easy, we have the best equipment to help us through it. Knowing it’s all in aid of Cerebra’s research and support services will keep us going.’
