Staff at Specsavers in Blackheath marked World Book Day (Thursday 1 March) by focussing on supporting a local cause.
The team used the day to celebrate reading, while raising funds to support Blackheath Library.
They honed their best baking skills and offered cakes in return for donations, while younger visitors embraced their own favourite book characters, courtesy of face painting and glitter tattoos.
The day also kick-started the store’s book sale to raise funds for the library. Donated books can be bought for a donation in store, while the team also welcomes donations of good quality second hand books too.
A word from the store director
‘World Book Day is a great opportunity to celebrate reading and share stories, and we were delighted to be involved and support our local library,’ said store director Iram Noreen. ‘Reading and good vision go hand in hand, so we will be looking to continue our support of Blackheath Library over the coming months.
‘And with the in-store book sale now in operation, there’s no excuse not to get reading and to know that you’re helping a local cause.’
