As main sponsor for the second year running, Specsavers Bingham is celebrating the success of the Flintham Show.
Held at Starnhill Farm and in its 98th year, the show had its highest visitor numbers in recent years.
A word from the store director
‘The event was perfectly situated for the team to welcome both existing customers and new customers,’ said optical director, Amit Rana. ‘We handed out free sight test vouchers, trolley coins, pens, and key rings to visitors, who were delighted with their freebies.’
Life-size-cut-out of Kylie Miogue
Also on display was a life-size cut-out of Kylie Minogue, which visitors were encouraged to take selfies with in return for a donation to Ash Lea School, the store’s chosen charity for the year. The event also saw the launch of a silent auction which will run up until the end of the year, where the highest bidder will be able to take the Kylie cut-out home with them.
Specsavers staff were joined by members of Bingham Hockey Club, with whom the store has agreed a sponsorship deal. Andy Wallace from the club arranged for a ‘Have a Go Hockey’ session which saw visitors to the show encouraged to test their hockey skills on an obstacle course.
Raising awareness of eye health
Amit added: ‘The whole event was a great success, and we were delighted to raise funds for our nominated charity. We very much hope to be part of the Flintham Show again next year to help raise awareness of the importance of regular eye tests, general eye health and to join in the fun.’
