Hockley resident Paul Whitcomb has been audiology director for Billericay for the past four years, with over 15 years of experience.
The 47-year-old graduated from the University of Loughborough after studying Management Sciences. After university he began working in the city as a FTSE 100 options market maker. Later, in the early 2000’s, Paul decided on a career change and decided to train to be an audiologist.
15 years of experience
Paul said: ‘I already had experience in customer services and loved working with the public, but this gave me the opportunity to help people too.’
After finishing his training in 2004 Paul worked for a number of different audiology companies both in the UK and in Hervey Bay in Queensland, Australia and ten years later became the audiology director of Specsavers Hearing Centre in Southend. Since then the business has grown the services to include a team of nine working across eight branches across Essex.
A rewarding career
Paul continued: ‘It’s a really rewarding career, knowing that the work you do makes such a difference to someone’s life.’
In his spare time Paul enjoys travelling with his wife Terri and their two daughters Holly, aged 11 and Abigail, aged 8.
