The Bideford store would like to thank the community for helping them collect over 1,500 pairs of glasses for eyecare charity, Vision Aid Overseas.
Throughout 2015, the store invited people to donate their old specs in store to the charity, which provides eyecare services to communities in developing countries. By the end of 2016, the store would like to have over 5,000 pairs.
Store director, Jerry Shrubb said: ‘We’re so grateful to everyone who has taken the time to bring in their old glasses and look forward to working towards our new goal.
‘Vision Aid Overseas does a tremendous amount of work providing support to people who lack access to eyecare services. In this country, we can easily access professional eyecare on the high street and it’s something we all take for granted. In the developing world it’s a very different story and for that reason it is important we do what we can to improve eye health elsewhere.
‘We couldn’t have hit this huge figure without the help of our community, so a massive thanks to everyone who has donated their specs to this fantastic cause.’
