The champagne was flowing on Friday 15 June after a Bicester opticians was crowned the winner in the Bicester Village Retail category at the Oxfordshire Business Awards.
The store beat off stiff competition from The Old Flight House and The Oxford Artisan Distillery (TOAD) to take home the gong at the awards ceremony held at Oxford Brookes University. The store is the first franchise business to win in the award’s 24-year history.
A word from the store director
‘We are absolutely over the moon to have won,’ said Sarah Marshall, store director at Specsavers Bicester. ‘It was a fantastic night of celebration for the whole team and we’re hugely grateful to be recognised as a key part of the Oxfordshire business community. We put together what we thought was a strong submission which focused on how we stand out and what we do differently and are now looking to build on our success.’
Miranda Markham, community relations director at Bicester Village, who sponsored the Retail category, commented: ‘Specsavers were the true champions of the Bicester Village Retail Award. We were particularly impressed with their ambitious growth strategy alongside their investment in state of the art optometry equipment.
‘By combining this with customer excellence they have forged their place as a leader in the marketplace.’
