Sixth form pupils at Gosford Hill School have benefitted from a visit by optometrist and store director, Sarah Marshall from Specsavers Bicester.
Sarah chatted to the youngsters about pursuing a career in optometry, something she feels very passionate about. As well as the entry requirements, Sarah talked to the 90-strong group about some of the positive aspects of the profession.
A word from Sarah
‘I’ve been an optician for 21 years and absolutely love my job so I’m really keen to help spread the word about how rewarding a career in optics can be,’ said Sarah.
‘It’s amazing how many students haven’t even heard about optometry, let alone given it any consideration, but hopefully the session has helped put it more front of mind. I found it really enjoyable and would like to thank the school for letting me come and talk to the students.’
Specsavers Bicester is committed to ensuring its staff are fully supported and provided with the relevant career progression opportunities through training and development.
The store provides pre-registration optician placements with the possibility of staying on with the team once fully qualified.
