The team at Specsavers Bicester donated one of the top prizes for a local raffle to help raise money for Cancer Research UK. The raffle – organised by Rachel Taylor of Steeple Claydon, on behalf of her team 'The Allsorts', one of the teams taking part in this years' Buckingham Relay for Life event to raise money for Cancer Research UK – raised almost £1,000 for the charity and included a £125 Specsavers eyecare voucher for the recipient of the winning ticket.
‘Support for the raffle was overwhelming’, said Rachel. ‘We’re delighted with the number of prizes that were donated to us and thrilled that the winning hamper, which included the eyecare voucher, was won by a family of spectacle-wearers!’
An important cause
‘Cancer research and awareness is important to us all and so we were only too happy to help with a donation to raise money for this amazing charity’, said Sarah Marshall, store director at Specsavers Bicester.
‘Although uncommon in the UK, cancers of the eye can be something that we can help to look out for,’ continued Sarah. ‘This, in addition to optician diagnoses of other conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure highlights the importance of regular eye tests to ensure the best possible care.’
