Generous residents from Bexleyheath have helped a local opticians raise £138 for Demelza Hospice Care for Children.
To coincide with the launch of new Disney, Marvel and Star Wars children’s glasses at Specsavers in the town, staff from the store reached the impressive target by hosting a series of in-store fundraising events that included a costume party.
Customers were also entertained with an array of other fundraising activities, including a raffle to win designer glasses, tombola, guess the sweets in the jar competition and a guess the name of the teddy competition.
Vital support from the community
Store director, Wouter de Wit, said: ‘We have been absolutely overwhelmed with support from our customers and residents. Our team always get fully behind the various fundraising activities we carry out throughout the year, and this is evident from the impressive amount raised.
‘Demelza Hospice Care for Children South East London is a charity that is close to many local people’s hearts and we know that without the support from the community, the organisation would not be able to continue to provide care for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families.’
