The Berwick store is celebrating its 15th birthday with a store refit and expansion, representing a £100,000 investment into local healthcare provisions.

Specsavers in Marygate expanded its offering in October to become a dedicated audiology hub, providing enhanced audiology services to customers including hearing tests and hearing aid fittings.

Now, the store is undergoing a major refit and expansion which will create a dedicated space for audiology provision and allow for more eye health services to be offered to customers than ever before.

This investment in modernised facilities will further enhance the store’s capability, allowing for more contact lense clinics and dedicated diabetic screenings.

Vicky Davidson, store partner at Specsavers in Berwick, says: ‘The store refit represents a proud milestone for our team. It has only been made possible by the support of the Berwick community over the years.

‘The decision to invest in our store supports our growing business needs and has been carefully planned to ensure that we offer the best possible service to our customers.

‘With increased appointments, shorter waiting times, improved technology and new dedicated audiology rooms, we’re really proud of the changes that we’re making to the store.

‘The entire team is excited for our customers to experience the changes for themselves – with increased space and availability, we’ll be able to offer an enhanced healthcare service to local people.’

The refit is due to be completed by Friday 18th December, following the store’s 15th birthday.

Many colleagues are also celebrating their 15-year service milestone’s this month, including store partners Nic Dawson, Craig Bell and Vicky Davidson; store manager, Julie Dudgeon, and lab technician, Andrew Zerkee.

Assistant manager, Kirsty Patterson, marks 10 years service this year along with Katie Blackie, who recently took on the role of audiology partner, heading up the new audiology side of the business.

Vicky adds: ‘We’re delighted to be marking our 15th anniversary with a brand new look and are proud to have such a talented team here in Berwick, with a combined experience of around 150 years.

‘Our customers are at the heart of everything we do and we look forward to many more successful years serving the local community.’

Specsavers stores have been recognised as an essential healthcare provider. This means that Specsavers will continue to keep its doors open to the public and offer a full breadth of optical and audiology services to the local community.

The store has put in place various safety measures, including restrictions on the number of customers allowed in store at any one-time, social distancing, and bank card instead of cash payments, where possible.
