A Berwick opticians is donating £200 to the UK’s leading diabetes charity after shining a spotlight on the condition during the recent Diabetes Week.
Led by directors Craig Bell and Nick Dawson, the team at Specsavers in the town backed the drive to #talkaboutdiabetes. They also vowed to donate £1 for every eye test carried out in store over the course of the awareness week.
A word from Craig
Craig Bell, director at Specsavers in Berwick, said: ‘It was important to us to spark a conversation about diabetes here in Berwick during the awareness week.
‘Diabetes affects more people in the UK than dementia and cancer combined and those with type 1 or type 2 diabetes are more at risk of sight loss.
‘As Berwick’s local eyecare specialists, we are pleased to donate this three-figure sum to Diabetes UK to support their invaluable work in this field.’
An important cause
Diabetes UK is the nation’s leading diabetes charity, which cares for, connects with and campaigns alongside and behalf of all people affected by and at risk of diabetes.
This Diabetes Week, Diabetes UK encouraged people with diabetes to share their experiences and help fight diabetes.
