The team at Specsavers in Belper are celebrating after winning a charity duck race that took place recently to raise funds for Sight Support Derbyshire.
A total of £6,800 has now been raised from the event, which took place at the Derby River Gardens last month. The Specsavers team entered two giant rubber ducks – Prince Harry and Princess Meghan – with Harry proving to be the luckiest of ducks by winning the River Derwent swim. Princess Meghan was unable to keep the same pace as her royal hubby however and floated over the finish line several minutes later.
A word from the store director
Andy McBride, store director at Specsavers Belper said: ‘Sight Support Derbyshire is a charity that is dedicated to improving the lives of people with sight loss throughout Derbyshire. They work to provide services, support, advice and information to at least 9500 registered blind and partially sighted local people.
‘We’re committed to providing and promoting the best possible eye care and eye health to our customers and thus Sight Support Derbyshire is a charity that the team feels strongly about supporting. Being involved in ventures such as the annual duck race is a fun way in which the entire team can get involved and help to raise funds for this fantastic cause.’
