Staff at the Belper store joined forces with Captain Jack Sparrow and Elsa from Disney’s Frozen, as they took to the streets on Saturday 11 October to raise money for Guide Dogs! The store raised £100 but the team are still collecting!
Star spangled day
Belper’s very own Jack Sparrow and Elsa from company Tru Entertainment Ltd helped the Specsavers team collect money for the charity. Decked out in brightly coloured clothing and neon accessories, employees also welcomed Guide Dogs representatives to the store to greet customers.
Generous staff handed balloons to shoppers and asked them to guess the name of the cuddly dog toy as part of a in-store competition!
Store director, Andy McBride said: ‘We were proud to host this Guide Dogs fundraising day at the store. The charity does fantastic work and we’re glad customers joined in the fun, along with Captain Jack Sparrow who was armed with his collection bucket!’
About the charity
The event is part of an ongoing partnership with Guide Dogs which has already seen Specsavers raise enough money to pay for the breeding and training costs of 25 guide dog pups. Guide Dogs provides mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people. It also campaigns for the rights of people with visual impairment, educates the public about eyecare and funds eye disease research.
