Shuaib wins £100 for his school
Shuaib’s prize winning Young reader book review appeared in NI4Kids and in addition to a book token for himself Shuaib won £100 of Scholastic vouchers for his school, Fane Street Primary School.
Kings of the Boyne
Shuaib reviewed historical novel, Kings of the Boyne by Nicola Pierce which tells the story of teenager Gerald O’Connor from Offaly and his experiences during the Jacobite/Williamite war in Ireland during the late 17th century.
Shuaib very much enjoyed the book saying, ‘I loved this book and the way it was written made me want to step back in time into the book. I liked how the author started the story and how she describes Gerald as he grows up. I also learned a lot about the history of the war.’
Importance of reading
‘Congratulating Shuaib, Specsavers Park Centre store manager Jayne Martin said Specsavers is very pleased to back this important reading initiative in NI4Kids magazine. ‘It’s really important for young people to read as much as possible and enjoy a wide range of books by different authors’
