The team at Specsavers in Connswater Shopping Centre are proud to have raised £340 for the Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal.

The store promoted the appeal by selling the well-known yellow lapel daffodils throughout the month of March and, more recently, the opticians held a bake sale in the mall of Connswater Shopping Centre to help boost the funds raised in store.

All proceeds raised went directly to the Marie Curie charity which has over 2,000 nurses caring for terminally ill patients, including half of all cancer patients who die at home.

Thank you to the local community

Lynsey Caldwell, store director, said: ‘The Great Daffodil Appeal is such a well-known event and we are delighted to have raised £340 for the cause.

All money raised for this worthwhile charity will help Marie Curie nurses provide more free care to people, with terminal illnesses, in their own homes.

I would personally like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the local Belfast community who supported us over the last number of weeks. I’d also like to thank all of the store staff who took the time to bake buns, cakes and lots of goodies which were sold in aid of the charity.

It was a great and worthwhile bake sale.’
