On Saturday 19 July, Bedford played host to the River Festival which boasted crowds of over 300,000, a huge outdoor free event in St. James Park, second only in size to Notting Hill Carnival.
River Festival eyecare advice
Staff from Specsavers Bedford, joined in the action with the Harpur shopping centre’s marquee with a variety of musical performances and competitions plus free glasses repairs and cleaning, as well as eyecare advice.
Hearing aid specialists and the Big Fuzzy Ear were also handing out leaflets and goody bags.
Store director, Matt Stewart says ‘The River Festival is a great local event for everyone in Bedford. It gives businesses like us an opportunity to get involved and show our fun side and that’s certainly what we did this year.
We had some great activities such as the old crowd pleaser ‘hook a duck’ and a ‘guess the value’ competition, giving people the chance to win from a huge variety of prizes, all while highlighting the message that we should not neglect our eye and ear health.’
Free vision screening
Specsavers stores across the country are campaigning to make eye examinations a compulsory part of the driving test and are offering free vision screenings to ensure that drivers’ vision and hearing are in line with the legal requirements.
