Specsavers in Beaumont Leys has confirmed a sponsorship deal with Leicester Lions Speedway, one of British Speedway’s most famous clubs.
The store in the Beaumont Leys Shopping Centre has signed a sponsorship deal with the club to support them for the whole season. The deal will see Specsavers banners around the 300m oval at every race meeting and volunteers giving out Specsavers ear defenders to spectators as well as goodie bags and leaflets.
A word from the store manager
Store manager, Bryony Smith, said: ‘It’s a great opportunity for us to sponsor the amazing Leicester Lions Speedway team – they are fantastic to watch and the adrenaline certainly flows when you see them racing around the track at speeds of up to 50mph.
‘The bikes have 500cc engines, fixed gearing and no brakes, so hopefully all the riders will have been to Specsavers recently, so they can see where they’re going. We’re always keen to support sports at the grassroots level and the Lions are great at nurturing young talent in the area and helping them develop their racing career, so we are really happy to be part of this for the coming year.’

Mike Voce from the speedway club added: ‘We’re delighted to welcome Beaumont Leys Specsavers as a sponsor of our club. The riders are thrilled that such a well known and respected brand will be part of our partnership team for the coming year.
‘Speedway is a truly great sport to watch – the spectators are right up close to the action and have plenty of chances to meet the riders before and after the races. We welcome anyone who’s interested to come and watch, just make sure to use the ear defenders supplied by Specsavers, as it can get loud!’
