Batley's Specsavers has undergone a major refurbishment to extend its Commercial Street store and provide a more comfortable and spacious environment for customers.

Specsavers has added an additional 300ft of space, which means that the store now has three modern, air conditioned, fully-equipped sight test rooms. A large dedicated customer waiting room has been created and a new contact lenses teach area provides a private location for staff to help customers with fitting new contact lenses.

Paul Smith, store director said: ‘Everyone in our experienced team is excited about taking our services to the next level here in Batley. We are now able to offer more appointments, in a much-improved environment, seven days a week. We also offer digital retinal photography to all of our customers, completely free of charge, which we believe is unique in Batley, and a service that most other opticians charge for.

We have also managed to keep our private eye test fee at £15, and make sure we provide a full range of NHS services in the store. We have also ensured, through careful design of the new test rooms, that all three rooms are fully accessible to the able-bodied, and wheelchair users alike.

‘We can now conduct three appointments at a time, which makes it easier for families that want to be tested at the same time. The investment into the store highlights Specsavers’ commitment to Batley and our customers have been very impressed with the new-look store.

‘Our team members are also continuing to study in order to be able to offer a wide selection of services in store, including Riaz Shah who has recently started studying for his dispensing opticians degree at Bradford College. This will complement the three other registered practitioners, already working in the store.’
