The Barrow-in-Furness store is celebrating after 28 members of its team completed the Dementia Friends course.

Alzheimer's Society initative

Specsavers employees nationwide are completing Dementia Friends training, an initiative run by the Alzheimer’s Society. In doing so they become recognised as a Dementia Friends, with a badge to wear on their uniforms to indicate their increased level of dementia awareness to customers.

Every staff member

Assistant manager, Caroline Roberts said: 'Every staff member from directors to lab technicians are now signed up as a Dementia friend.

'We feel this is a massive achievement that the whole store is  more Dementia friendly and aware of the challenges people face when they are having a sight test or shopping.'
