Celebrations were held recently in Barnet for the annual Age UK Barnet Volunteer Awards, sponsored by Specsavers.
The annual event celebrates the 200 volunteers who help deliver services to the 6,000 lonely and socially isolated people who live in the borough. Specsavers Barnet sponsored the awards ceremony, with a generous £500 to ensure volunteers had a well-deserved celebration.
Guests were also treated to discounts on eye tests and digital hearing aids, while representatives from Specsavers were on hand at the event to meet the volunteers.

Suzy Barber, community fundraiser at Age UK Barnet, says: ‘Our much loved Volunteer Awards is our opportunity to thank all of our wonderful volunteers who help ensure our activities and services continue running.
‘Without their help, Age UK Barnet would not be able to benefit as many vulnerable older people in our community as we do.
‘We would like to thank Specsavers for their continued support.’
Certificates and gifts were awarded to each volunteer, with donations coming from Greenmantle Landscape, Onira Organics and Finchley Nurseries.
