Specsavers Barkingside is joining the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) in urging all their customers to have plenty of fun in the sun this summer – but to make sure they protect their eyes against the sun while they do it.
To do that, experts at the High Street store are recommending that people make sure they choose a pair of sunglasses which has a safe level of UV protection.
A word from the store director
Christina Tomlinson, store director in Barkingside, said: ‘You probably would not head out for a day in the sun without covering yourself in sun cream, so why would you treat your eyes any differently.
‘Sun damage could increase your risk of sight loss, so why take the risk. Make sure you choose sunglasses with a safe level of UV protection to look after your eyes this summer.’
