A Bangor woman has been chosen out of hundreds of people across Northern Ireland as a regional finalist for Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer of the Year.
Megan McCreedy, aged 23, could win £10,000 and a luxury holiday in the Bahamas if she wins, as well as a chance to mingle with the stars at the 20th annual Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards in London. As a regional finalist in the 16 to 24 year age category Megan has already won a bottle of champagne, a certificate and a £150 glasses voucher.
Do your own thing
At the presentation of her champagne and vouchers, Megan said: ‘To be a regional finalist is so exciting! It just makes you feel so good to be chosen out of all the people who entered. I’ve been wearing glasses since I was at school. At first, I didn’t want anyone to see me wearing them but now I love wearing glasses. People are under so much pressure to look good these days, but my advice would be to do your own thing where glasses are concerned, and Specsavers has such a wide variety to choose from to suit every style.’
Spice Girl Emma Bunton
The awards were launched by Spice Girls singer and Heart FM DJ Emma Bunton earlier this year. If Megan triumphs, she could meet Emma at the celeb-packed awards ceremony in London on Tuesday 6 October.
Congratulations to Megan
Congratulating Megan, Specsavers Bangor Bloomfield store manager Andrea Ridgway said: ‘We’d like to congratulate Megan on reaching the regional finalist stage of Spectacle Wearer of the Year. It’s a great honour and we’re pleased to see one of our customers doing so well!’
