The 2017 Sunday Life Spirit of Northern Ireland Awards have been launched, and Specsavers Bangor is urging all customers to enter their unsung heroes to be in with a chance of winning.

Locals who make a difference

The awards, which take place on Friday 16 June at the Culloden Estate & Spa, seek to honour locals who make a difference across Northern Ireland through 10 categories, including 999 Hero, Overcoming Adversity, Spirit of Sport, Caring Spirit Award and the Overall Spirit of Northern Ireland Award.

Stuart Douglas, store director at Specsavers Bangor in Bloomfield Shopping Centre commented: ‘The Spirit of Northern Ireland Awards are a fantastic opportunity to honour all of those who are making sacrifices for others, and who are inspiring others to make up the community we live in here in Bangor. We hope all our customers will take the time to nominate those worthy of an award, and we look forward to the event in June.’

Celebrity red carpet

The event will be filled to the brim with local celebrities, and the stars of the screen including Game of Thrones, Coronation Street, Emmerdale and The Fall, with local presenters Marc Mallett and Pamela Ballantine overseeing proceedings. Entertainment after the awards will come from Boyzlife, the band formed by Boyzone singer Keith Diffy and Westlife’s Brian McFadden.
