Nimish Desai from Specsavers Banbury is lacing up his running shoes to take part in the Oxford Half Marathon on Sunday 12 October.
Store director and optometrist Nimish Desai (47) has a set target to raise £2,000 for Katherine House Hospice which provides palliative care to improve the lives of those with life threatening illnesses. The charity is one which the store has supported in the past, most recently as part of its 20th birthday celebrations.
Nimish said: ‘I’ve done absolutely no running before but I’m very excited to be taking on the challenge and I’m training hard. It’s been quite difficult with the heat so I’ve been running late at night! I’ve got a lot of support from my colleagues at Specsavers and if anyone would like to sponsor me, I’d be extremely grateful.’
The Oxford Half Marathon is a single lap, relatively flat course. It starts at the Kassam Stadium and goes past the track where Roger Bannister broke the first four minute mile in 1954.
You can sponsor Nimish by coming into the store or by visiting his fundraising page.
