Staff at the local store in Ayr have raised more than £140 in aid of lung cancer charity Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.
In memory of Tom
The donation follows a Scotland-wide fundraising initiative in memory of a much-loved colleague, Specsavers director, Tom Simpson, who sadly died in March 2018 after battling lung cancer.
The store donated £1 per sight test from 15 – 22 July and organised a series of activities to help boost the fundraising total.
Staff were able to make a donation in order to enjoy a delicious lunch of chilli and rice and tasty cakes.
Two raffles also took place, one offering staff the chance to win a day off and one for customers for the chance to win a luxury food hamper.
A word from the store director
Store director Linda Fulton, said: ‘Tom was well-known by many Specsavers staff across Scotland, having worked for the company for more than 19 years.
‘Despite fighting lung cancer for more than four years, Tom dedicated lots of his time to raising awareness for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation while highlighting the lack of funding available to investigate and treat the disease.
‘We were very proud to join Specsavers store across the country to help continue his amazing work.’
