Staff at Specsavers in Ayr raised an impressive £1,690 during Red Nose Day fundraising events.
The store’s fundraising total contributed to the colossal £335,000 raised by Specsavers stores and offices throughout the UK.
The opticians asked staff and customers to dig deep in support of Comic Relief during a number of in-store events in the lead up to Red Nose Day. Fundraising activities included a sponsored climb up the 2,900ft Ben Arthur, a 5k walk and staff bake-off.
Directors at Specsavers in Ayr also held a ‘Win a day off work’ raffle, encouraging staff to buy tickets for £5 each.
Linda Fulton, store director of Specsavers in Ayr, said: ‘All our staff have had lots of fun fundraising for Red Nose Day. There was fierce competition between staff to win the extra day off - our raffle tickets raised £145 alone. Optometrist Douglas Waugh won the raffle, but then he did buy 6 tickets!
‘Everyone’s so pleased that we were able to contribute a great amount to Specsavers’ total and we’d like to thank our fantastic customers for their support and contributions.’
