Ashington eyecare experts are renewing their specs recycling campaign in aid of an international sight charity.

The team from Specsavers in Ashington have collected and donated specs for charity Vision Aid Overseas in recent years and are calling for residents to drop off their old and unwanted glasses in store as they champion the campaign once more.

More about the charity

Vision Aid Overseas – which operates in six African nations – collects unwanted specs and recycles them, with the income generated used to support its programmes overseas.

A word from the store director

Darren Walker, store director at Specsavers in Ashington, said: ‘Residents have always given generously to our Vision Aid Overseas specs collection box. We hope that by renewing our call for donations, it will remind people that they can put their specs to good use when they’re finished with them.

‘It’s such a simple initiative but it can really make a positive change in people’s lives. Pop by the store and drop off your old and unwanted specs today.’
