An Ashford man raised over £1,500 to run in the London Marathon for the charity VICTA (Visually Impaired Children Taking Action).

Hitting his target

Simon Perry encouraged sponsorship donations to participate in the 26-mile run, with Specsavers Opticians and Hearcare Centre in Ashford pledging £400 to help him hit his target, which he has already exceeded.

Raising as much as possible

Simon’s dad, Clive Perry, is store director at Specsavers and is rooting for his son to raise as much as possible for the eyecare charity. He says: ‘Simon has been training hard for months and we’re very proud that he raised such a huge amount.

‘VICTA do fantastic work for blind and partially sighted children and young people, so we’re happy that we could support them with this sponsorship.'

VICTA (Visually Impaired Children Taking Action) provides support for blind and partially sighted children, young people and their families across the UK.
