While Specsavers Ashby has remained open throughout the coronavirus pandemic, members of the team have been working extra hard to progress in-store as well as complete their qualifications.
A terrific time for the team
Lucy Prew started with the Specsavers Ashby team as an optical assistant before quickly becoming joint store manager. Alongside her promotion, Lucy has also recently passed her Cert 3 exam, a course that covers all aspects of optics, including dispensing specs to customers, the anatomy of the eye, vision types and contact lenses.
Optical assistant, James Cook, who joined Specsavers Ashby as an apprentice, has also passed his Cert 3 exam with flying colours. He’s now keen to kick-start his journey to become a dispensing optician at the store while getting stuck into his next qualification, Cert 4.
Staff are also praising the store’s newly appointed assistant manager, Ellie Sharp who soared to the role after similarly joining the team as an apprentice in 2015 and has moved her way up as a contact lens supervisor and store supervisor.
Celebrations continue as optometrist Adnan Nawaz passed his ILM Level 3 qualification in early October, another course which focuses on leadership and management. He is already getting the ball rolling to join the Pathway programme to eventually become a Specsavers partner.
A word from the store director
Specsavers Ashby store director, Kuljinder Bains, comments: ‘Despite these testing times, the team have given us a reason to smile. We’ve had some great news over the past couple of weeks and I hope they all recognise their fantastic achievements.
‘Not only is it a great triumph for Lucy, James, Ellie and Adnan individually, but it’s also a fantastic accomplishment for the store,’ Kuljinder continues. ‘We strive to deliver the best service possible to our customers and the local community, and to know our team are continuously enhancing their skills is wonderful.’
