Local children had the chance to express their artistic nature when a local opticians presented the highly-sought-after Ashby Arts Festival Children’s Creative trophy.
Store manager at Specsavers in Ashby, Cheryl Cox, together with the Mayor, presented the winners of each age group with their prizes, including the prestigious overall winner trophy which was received by Chloe Locke, from year 4. The award ceremony took place at Ivanhoe College in North Street.
'Thrilled to support'
Cheryl said: ‘We’re absolutely thrilled to once again support the Ashby de la Zouch Arts Festival. We have been part of this for a few years now, and once again it was a great success. It’s simply a great community event which never fails to unearth some fantastic creative talents in Ashby’s youth.
‘This year’s entries were really imaginative. With such creativity in our town, it will be interesting to watch the careers of so many aspiring young creatives develop. We want to offer massive congratulations to all the well-deserved winners.’
The entrants were asked to draw and colour a picture of a Knight and his house. As well as Chloe, Tilly Tattersall and Lucy Plant were also winners in the competition.
