The team at Arnold Specsavers held a Big Fit fundraising day on Saturday (17 October), as part of their support for the Saving Lives Helipad Appeal.
Running a special contact lens clinic, staff were on hand throughout the day to help customers thinking of swapping their specs for contacts, while a stilt walker entertained passers-by. Visitors were invited to make use of Specsavers’ free contact lens trial and, for those wanting to try something a little different, coloured contact lenses were also available.
Forming part of the store’s month of fundraising, customers were asked to make a donation to the Saving Lives Helipad Appeal. With an array of fundraising activities throughout October, the store raised £1,880 in total.
‘Our Big Fit Day was a great opportunity for customers to come and try contact lenses,’ said Claire Fletcher, store director. ‘Our customers really seemed to appreciate the support we offered and we’re so grateful for their generosity, helping us to raise almost £2,000 for the Helipad Appeal!’
The Saving Lives Helipad Appeal was launched by Nottingham Hospitals Charity with the aim of raising £3 million to build an on-site helipad at the East Midlands Major Trauma Centre. Having an on-site helipad will ensure patients with serious injuries will be transported to the Emergency Department as quickly as possible, giving them the best chance of survival.
