With Christmas around the corner, Specsavers in Armthorpe have partenered with South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation to raise funds and donations for flood victims in South Yorkshire.
The store, on Mill Street, called the region’s residents to donate Christmas presents, clothes and food packages in-store, which will be put towards supporting those affected by the floods across South Yorkshire last month.
How To Donate
With the region gearing up for the festive season, Specsavers Armthorpe will also be opening its doors as a donation point for the village as well as holding a raffle for customers to win new glasses throughout December.
Ruth Willis, Chief Executive of South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation, comments: “The response we have had to our appeal in South Yorkshire and across the UK has been incredible. Local businesses in particular have been so generous and we can’t thank Armthorpe Specsavers enough for their fundraising efforts for the Flood Appeal.”
Zoe Lancaster, store Director at Specsavers Armthorpe, comments: ‘Luckily, we weren’t impacted too heavily in-store last month. However, we really wanted to support those in the community that weren’t as fortunate.
‘At the best of times, Christmas certainly pinches at family budgets, but I can only imagine how hard it must be when this is compounded with flood damage to homes and businesses. As a drop-off point, we’re calling on people across the region to pop in and donate what they can for a very worthy cause, which will have a tangible impact on our local community.
‘We’re looking for donations of long-dated food items from our customers and the village’s residents which might help make Christmases special again for those impacted in the floods.’
