The Arbroath opticians has donated high-visibility vests to a local Beavers group after pledging to help youngsters stay safer on darker mornings and evenings.

The 2nd Arbroath Beavers got in touch with staff at Specsavers after the opticians launched an appeal offering the vests to any local groups which needed them.

Jamie Buchan, store director at Specsavers in Arbroath, said: ‘We're delighted to support the 2nd Arbroath Beavers with this donation of vests, which will help to keep them safe and visible when they are out participating in activities.

‘We still have a small number of medium sized vests left so if there are any other groups out there who need some, then please do get in touch and we'll be happy to help while we have some remaining - just contact the store in the Abbeygate Centre.’

Keeping children seen on the roads

Mandy Tasker, leader of the 2nd Arbroath Beavers, added: ‘At this time of year, it can be very difficult for drivers to see pedestrians, making it especially vital to ensure our children are safe when out on trips.

‘The vests will be very useful, ensuring our Beavers are easily identifiable.’
