Specsavers in Antrim has made significant investment in new equipment.
The Castle Mall store has installed a state-of-the-art visual fields machine which tests the patient’s entire vision including their peripheral or side vision. This straightforward painless test is very important as a loss of peripheral vision can be an early indicator of glaucoma.
Specsavers has also invested in a top of the range Nidek phoropter. This is an ophthalmic testing instrument used during eye examinations to measure an individual’s refractive error and determine his or her spectacle prescription. The machine changes lenses in front of patients’ eyes rather than the optician swapping them manually.
Eye health checks
Both pieces of equipment will be used in addition to the optician’s current testing equipment, which includes a digital retinal camera, providing each customer with a comprehensive eye health check.
Davin Quinn, store director at Specsavers Antrim, said, ‘This is a very exciting time for our store and the investment in equipment and in the expansion of the team to 15, really moves us up a gear in providing the very best service to our customers. The new technology is already enhancing the eye testing experience, making it more efficient and more comfortable for the patient. We are delighted with the success and growth of the store in just six years since opening and would like to thank the local community for its continued loyalty and support.’
