Specsavers in Andover wants to remind all of its contact lens wearers who have fallen behind on their check-ups to book an appointment.
Importance of aftercare
It is estimated that approximately one in every four contact lenses do not visit their opticians for an annual aftercare check up as recommended. The purpose of such an appointment is to make sure every customer has access to the most up to date advice and that their prescription is correct.
Stats from the General Optical Council
Nearly one in four (28%) contact lens wearers aged 18-24 don’t always wash their hands before handling their contact lenses - something that the team at Andover will stress during their consultations with their customers.
Paul Dhanji, store director says: 'Contact lenses are safe when used properly but touching or rubbing your eye with unclean hands can spread infections so it is important to wash and dry your hands thoroughly every time you touch your eye.
'We will always be on hand to answer questions from people thinking about trying contact lenses too. We offer a free contact lens trial so you can try before they buy. If you are tempted to give them a go, do pop in to see the team.'
