Specsavers in Ammanford has raised more than £100 for the Guide Dogs charity with a series of colourful fundraising events.
The Quay Street store raised a total of £104.39 to mark Guide Dogs Week, the annual fundraising and awareness week held by the charity.
Staff collected donations throughout the week, and on the final day dressed up in brightly-coloured clothing and decorated the store with colourful bunting. They also held a cake sale with staff members competing in a ‘Crazy Cupcake Challenge’ for the most innovative bake. The winner was optician Lisa Picton for her rainbow-swirled cupcakes.
Kevin McCarthy, director of Specsavers in Ammanford, said: ‘We are delighted to have raised this money to support such a brilliant charity. On behalf of everyone in the store we’d like to thank everyone who donated to our fundraising efforts for their generosity.’
The Guide Dogs charity has been breeding and training guide dogs for more than 75 years. The money raised during Guide Dogs Week helps the charity continue to provide mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people, fund eye disease research, educate the public about eye care and campaign for the rights of people with visual impairment.
