An optician at Specsavers in Ammanford has pledged to wax his legs in a bid to raise funds for Red Nose Day.
Gavin Howells, a pre-reg optometrist, will endure other members of staff waxing his legs at the Quay Street store this Friday at 2:30pm.
Also planned for the week leading up to Red Nose Day is a raffle and a fancy dress day, which will see staff come to work in their silliest red outfits. The store is also selling novelty ‘waving hands’ glasses – in adult and children’s sizes – priced at just £2, with all money raised going straight to Comic Relief.
Lorna Phillips, store manager at Specsavers in Ammanford, says: ‘We’re hoping to boost the money raised from our silly specs through Gavin’s sponsored wax this Friday and we would certainly welcome any support from customers and Ammanford locals who want to come along for a good laugh in aid of Comic Relief.’
Specsavers in Ammanford has joined fellow Specsavers stores nationwide in supporting Comic Relief to help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa.
Specsavers has been a Comic Relief partner since 2015 and the group has pledged to raise at least £250,000 through its Red Nose Day activity this year.
