An Alnwick opticians has donated more than 400 pairs of specs to be recycled by international sight charity, Vision Aid Overseas (VAO).
The team from Specsavers in the town have been collecting the three-figure sum of unwanted glasses from customers since the store opened last summer.

A word from the store director
Grant Welsh, director at in Alnwick, said: ‘‘We have been encouraging our customers to drop their old specs into our donations box in store, rather than having them gathering dust at home, and they have responded in their droves.
'I have been overwhelmed by the response from the local community. The collection just kept growing.'
