Since throwing open the doors of his state-of-the-art new store in the town last summer, Specsavers director Grant Welsh has been busy supporting the local community.
From sponsoring the local fireworks display to funding the town’s Christmas stage, Northumberland-born Grant has quickly become a familiar face in Alnwick, since returning to the North East with his family to realise his dream of running the his own opticians and hearing centre.
In this short period, the store has also become a sponsor of Alnwick Castle Golf Club and Grant has shown his support for a variety of local events, including the Round Table clay pigeon shooting, Alnwick Beer Festival, Alnwick Duck Race, Alnwick Fringe, Last Night of the Proms and the Elderberries Christmas party at Alnwick Gardens in December.
A word from the store director
Specsavers Alnwick store director Grant Welsh said: ‘In my view, the town has given us such a warm welcome that it was the least we could do to show how grateful we are to be part of this thriving community in Alnwick.
‘We are delighted to have helped support so many local events in the first months since our opening. Our sponsorships have totalled somewhere in the region of £4000 to date, with more in the pipeline.
‘We are very proud to be part of team Alnwick and can’t wait to experience our first full year in Bondgate in 2018.’
