With many brides enquiring about wearing contact lenses on their wedding day instead of specs, Ann Lees, dedicated contact lens specialist at Specsavers in Alloa, is set to attend the Alloa Wedding Show.

Ahead of the show on 10 May, Ann discusses the range of coloured contact lenses recommended by the store.

Coloured contacts advice for brides-to-be
Whether you’re looking for a dramatic new look or a subtle enhancement, she suggests considering contacts for your special day.

Ann said: ‘The ‘make up for eyes’ approach to contact lenses has never been so exciting - coloured contact lenses have come a long way in terms of both colour and technology. There are more colours available than ever before, from the vibrancy of Gemstone Green and Brilliant Blue to more subtle shades like Pure Hazel.

‘There have also been fantastic advancements in comfort. Dailies no longer dry out and monthlies are more breathable, allowing you to wear contact lenses for longer.

Top brands
‘For brides-to-be contemplating using coloured contact lenses, there are two brands we would recommend considering, depending on the desired look.

‘Johnson and Johnson’s 1-Day Acuvue Define Daily Lenses are designed to enhance your eyes while giving you a completely natural look. They combine a dark circle around the coloured portion of your eye with a luminous effect pattern which results brighter eyes no one will ever forget. The collection comes in two designs Natural Shimmer contact lenses which have a bold intensity; and Natural Sparkle lenses which add a luminous brightening effect.

‘Meanwhile Alcon’s new Air Optixs Colours monthly lenses mix three individual rings of colour, from a darker outer shade to a paler defining inner one. This enhances your eyes, creating a vibrant shade that really makes you stand out from the crowd or a subtle boost to your natural eye colour. There are nine beautiful colours to choose from and each are made using one of the brand’s most breathable lens materials.

‘Whether you choose to shimmer, sparkle or dazzle, the look will be completely unique to you as it builds upon your individual colouring and the tone of your eyes.’
