Staff at Specsavers in Acocks Green are appealing to the local community to join their efforts to support the local foodbank.
The store has become a collection point for the Sparkhill foodbank and the team are looking for donations of in-date, non-perishable foods. Donated items are then given to local people in need.
‘This is such a simple but effective initiative,’ said Ramiz Ahmed, store director. ‘Most of us have a bag of pasta or tin of soup in our cupboards that we could go without, so hopefully we can really make a difference to those who are less fortunate than ourselves.’
The Sparkhill foodbank is designed to help individuals and families in crisis, through the provision of emergency food supplies.
