The Abergavenny team have raised vital funds for children with brain conditions thanks to a flurry of fundraising activity and the generosity of residents.
Encouraged to donate
The Frogmore Street team dressed as their favourite superheroes for a day – including Batman, Spiderman and Superwoman - to raise money for the charity, Cerebra.
Customers were encouraged to donate to a raffle, with prizes including a free pair of designer sunglasses, a 50% discount voucher and a free spectacle cleaning pack. Children were also encouraged to take part in a superhero-themed colouring competition. The lucky winner, Nia Smith, took home a wooden art set.
The opticians helped raise £100 for the charity, which supports children with brain conditions such as Down’s syndrome and cerebral palsy, as well as their families. Its support services range from practical and emotional guidance to the creation of bespoke items – from customised surfboards to wheelchairs - at its Innovation Centre in Swansea.
Sejal Shah, director at Specsavers in Abergavenny, said: ‘We had great fun dressing up as our favourite characters, putting smiles on the face of many children who came into the store.
‘The fact this was all done on behalf of Cerebra made it that much more special. The work the charity does for children and families across our region is exceptional so we were proud to do our bit to support it.’
