West Bridgford youngsters could be taking home a variety of prizes by showing off their artistic skills as Specsavers holds a colouring competition to raise funds for Help for Heroes.

Members of staff are inviting children from the surrounding area to take part and design their own heroes medal, with the chance to win various prizes including stationery sets, DVDs and sweets. Entries cost 10p per child, with all proceeds going to national armed forces charity, Help for Heroes.

Colourful creations

Store director, Stephen Rogers, will be judging the competition. ‘We want to encourage all local kids to join in and show us their colouring skills,’ he said. ‘We have been raising money for Help for Heroes since January, and this is a great opportunity to get local kids involved in fundraising.’

Colouring sheets are available to pick up in store, and completed entries should be submitted no later than Saturday 24 September. Entrants must be 16-years-old or younger and the winner will be announced on Monday 26 September.

The team chose Help for Heroes as its nominated charity after asking customers to vote for who they wanted the store to support during 2016. So far, staff have raised more than £600 for the charity through various in-store activities and personal challenges.

Stephen added: ‘We’ve seen some brilliant designs so far, and the whole team are looking forward to receiving more colourful creations, so don’t miss out on the chance to get your entries in!’
