Specsavers are now offering one year apprenticeships to students who are considering a career in optics and optometry.
Specsavers in Ipswich is currently looking to recruit an apprentice to take part in their apprenticeship scheme. It is open to suitable applicants over the age of 16, with no previous optical experience required. Those that complete their apprenticeship will become qualified optical assistants with the opportunity to join the team full-time.
Store director at Specsavers Stowmarket, Mark Taggart says: ‘We believe that apprenticeships are a great opportunity for young people to enter the world of work in a safe and structured way. Our scheme in particular provides the apprentice with a real job, excellent training and nationally recognised qualifications.’
Earn while you learn
‘Rather than having to pay tuition fees, our apprentices earn a wage and receive additional benefits including paid holiday.’
Apprentices will primarily learn on the job, working in-store alongside eyecare professionals.
Alongside this they complete the Level 2 Diploma in Optical Retail with the potential to further qualify as a dispensing optician within five years.
