A group of opticians from Specsavers in Worcester went the extra mile for Cancer Research UK on Sunday 17 July, raising more than £2,000 for their participation in their local Race for Life.

The twelve-strong team raised money through family, friends and colleagues, as well as enticing customers and passers-by to sample their best baking skills with various cake sales to add to their fundraising total.

Delighted to exceed expectations

Faye Conway, Hana Pugh, Mandy Barbour, Paige Dennis, Kerstie Osborne, Hannah Hadley, Rhiannon Haddock, Kate Stolton, Annabel Bird, Sophie Hunt, Emily Wood and Roisin Connolly aimed to raise £500 through their efforts but were delighted to exceed expectations, with the total coming in at £2,085.

‘We are all very proud of the team who took part in this year’s Race for Life,’ commented store director Alan Richards. ‘Cancer is something that affects so many of us, so we are delighted that the girls worked so hard to raise a great amount of money for Cancer Research UK.

‘Thank you to all our customers who came to support the team in the run up to the event as well as those who cheered them on throughout the day.’
