While Specsavers Witham in the Grove Centre is closed for all routine eye and hearing tests at the moment, they are still open to provide essential care and support local keyworkers.
Going the Extra Mile
Last week, the store called local customer Nicola White – who was unable to leave her home – to let her know that her daughter's glasses were ready, and offered to deliver them to her doorstep.
When the team spoke to her, they found out that she was unable to get any essential shopping as she could not get an online delivery slot, and did not have any friends or family who could help her out. They offered to get her shopping for her and delivered it with her daughter's glasses – and will be delivering a new pair for Nicola once they are ready.
Supporting the elderly
In order to support the local community, the team have also been doing home deliveries for the over 70s while they are in self-isolation.
Jennifer Bowen, store director in Witham, said: ‘We are really pleased to be open for care and to be able to support so many local people with their essential eye and hearing needs at this time.
‘We want the local community to know that, while we are closed for routine appointments at the present time, we are still very much here to support people with their essential eye and hearing care needs – so please give us a call if you need us.’
