Wishaw muddy runners raise more than £700
A group of four determined ladies from a local opticians got grimy in a 5k obstacle course and raised more than £700 for Cancer Research UK in the process.
Specsavers Wishaw employees Karen McGuire, Leeanne Montgomery, Margaret Paterson and Lynsey Welsh took on the Race for Life Pretty Muddy at Bellahouston Park on Saturday 20 June.
The ladies were also joined by Samia Qureshi from Specsavers in Motherwell.
The caring quintet – team name ‘What A Spectacle’ – has now raised £780 for Cancer Research UK.
Karen said: ‘It was a fantastic experience. We’re all so happy that we chose to take part.
‘I was completely exhausted and covered in mud by the end of it but it was worth it. We’re so pleased that we’ve managed to raise money for the cause.’
Specsavers Wishaw store director Jonathan Dry said: ‘We’re all very proud of the girls. They raised an absolutely fantastic amount and I’m sure the money will be put to good use.’
